We bought our llamas with the intention of breeding to bring a moderately priced llama to our area for guarding livestock, 4-H projects, and just for companion animals. Since then the economy has gotten so bad that we have held off on breeding because we don't want our herd to get out of control. We have added miniature donkeys, ducks, turkeys, and now Angora goats to our mix. I use the llama fiber for felting and now would like to try spinning. I'm going to add the mohair from the goats to my llama and alpaca for a different feel and look. We have taken one of our llamas to our local school for a presentation and have had preschools out to visit them at the farm. Llamas are neat animals!
