Good Morning!
Thanks for the wake up laugh! I love the way you think. Unfortunately, in our Parish, there is no such thing as a food pantry, even though we could definitely use it. And if it isn't stamped 'USDA' you can't sell it. A frustration Randy and I face, as we would really like to be able to market at least our farm raised pork, beef and poultry. It's still a consideration, but a ways down the road. They do take some of the deer to processors that have access to other food pantries in other Parishes, which is a good thing. I'll have to ask Chief Loftin if they do the same for pigs, but knowing the backward way of thinking in these parts, then I doubt it. So, are you snowed in up there yet? It's actually 'cold' to us down here - 48 degrees in the mornings, so I figure y'all must be about 6 feet deep by now. It's rare we get it this cold this far before Halloween, but we're loving every minute of it! Oh! BTW - the results are in. I won 5 blues and 2 reds at the Parish Fair last week. My pickled okra, Creole Sauce, corn, a handwoven table runner and rug all won first place, and my peaches and a handwoven dishtowel won 2nd. I'm pretty pleased, as the is only the second year I've entered things, and last year my pears won 1st and my table runner (a different one) won 3rd. Do you ever enter anything in your fair? You should. It's a blast! Have a great day today!
