Dexters
Hi there, thanks for the comments and congrats on choosing to get a dexter! We love our new girl and are excited about milking this fall. It will be a new experience for us. Do you plan to milk your dexter? As far as temperature tolerance goes... We are in the Northeast and she (and the breed as a whole) does just fine with the cold temperatures. There are a large number of southern ranches with dexers online. I think the cows adapt well to whatever environment they are in. They are known for being hardy and adaptable. We keep highlands for beef and can't imagine how they can tolerate the heat of the south, with their long fuzzy hair, but even they adapt well. Soon, K
