How do you get a working do to "go back" in the paddock and then round up the sheep and bring them through the gate. I have one Australian Kelpie Male and I cannot get him to do this, so I end up tying him and and doing it myself. I have had him since he was 5 weeks of age and he does every thing else I ask but this command. I have had him on a leash and taken him up the paddock and he comes and does well but as soon as I let him off he just ignores me and sends them running in to one corner of the paddock nearly flattening the fence. I am at my wits end with him. He is nearly 12 months of age. He has a good eye and keeps tiny piglets inside their pens and watches their every move.....but that does not help me out when we are out together. Can you please shed some light on how I can best change this dogs attitude to the command.
