Grain or apples
Hard choice to have when your expecting milk cow. Our old apple tree started loosing it's apples that I just can't use. So I had the boys go gather some up and get them to where Sugar (our cow) can have access to them. Well, just about that time my husband gave her daily allotment of grain. We watched her go back and forth a couple of times before she decided to finish up the apples first. She is an apple monster. I always tell the boys to feed her apples behind the fence for I am afraid she would run them over looking for apples. The calf that she is carrying is going to be named apple just because that is what it's momma craved.
We have the barn officially up on poles. Amazing the sway it took out of it. Helps if you have a firm foundation on it. We are now going to tear out the west wall and level the floor. Then the concrete floor will go it. Hopefully we can get it buttoned up again before winter weather starts.
The hay is up for the year. Have a little water left where it is at so we will water it up and hopefully have about 5 to 6 inches on it before it gets cold for fall feed.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
