Thanks for the info...
Does your copper marans have feathers on their legs? Our son got 16 "copper marans" from the chick sale and 1/2 have feathers on their legs and other don't. We lost over night, but I told our son (P2) when I saw how it was looking when he came home from school that he would not make the night. So we are down to 15. It's hard to make a head count when they all look the same and he ends up counting one or more several times...LOL...We add a differnt breed each year to his flock. He sold 20 of his old hens a few months back and now his Easter pullets are starting to lay and it great to watch him come in with a new egg and his pulls out his Ideal Poultry Standard Chicken book and looks up the breed to see what color egg they lay and he narrows it down the breeds until he finds out which one laid the egg. It pass the time for him, until he had to walk his show animals.
