Harvest Time
Wow! There just is not enough time! We have concurrent harvest of tomatoes, apples, and grapes. The temperature has dropped to a good working value. Fall and spring are my favorite times. Summer is too hot and winter is too cold. But each season has its activities and we find we are ready for each season when it arrives. I will admit we are a little anxious for spring before it arrives. At 64 years old, the seasons go by at an amazing speed! Still have field corn, winter squash, and pumpkins to harvest in a month. We have cat fish (50), chickens (50), and hogs (2) to process in October and November. We buy a side of pasture beef in October. So, in our larder, we will have canned food, chicken, beef, fish, and orchard fruits and root cellar produce. It is such a nice feeling to live with the seasons and the land. I was a high tech elctronic engineer doing robotics and controls for a career and now a hobby homesteader ( a full and happy life!)
