diesel or gas
My first ever diesel vehicle was my Kubota BX24 subcompact tractor. I was amazed by the fuel efficiency. I could work more than a whole day on 5 gallons. My gas tractors use much more fuel. That got me thinking and I bought an MF 35 diesel tractor and a RAM 2500 with a Cummins diesel at a farm auction. The RAM gets about 23 MPG even though it is a 6000+ lb vehicle with quad cab and 8' bed. I plan to keep a couple of 55 gallon drums of diesel on hand for the tractors. Diesel does not go stale (sp??) in six months like gas does. The truck has a 35 gallon tank, so its range on a tank is about 700 miles. Now I need to study up on maintaining and repairing diesels. I am 64, but it appears learning is a cradle to grave deal.
