Hello to you, too Thank you for visiting my Riverbank Farm profile. I am new to Hobby Farms; and have never 'blogged.' But, I appreciate your welcome note. I see you have Quarter Horses. We have an extremely pleasant very senior grulla Quarter Horse mare in our schooling program. She's a sweetheart. I also own a Morgan, Haflinger, and Arab/Shetland pony. I retired my lesson program to a (younger) former employee, so that I could invest more time working on the American Association of Riding Schools project. It's a truly worthy effort to bring new non-horse-owning beginners into the sport and hobby of horses; and to help stable owners who care for that market develop viable small businesses. In my spare time, I invented a crocheted pony pattern that is selling quite well - I'm a little excited about it - and then I somehow became obsessed with crocheting ponies late every evening. My husband is newly retired and enjoys watching late night television. Making the ponies helps me sit still! I've sold around 150 patterns, and maybe 20 finished ponies. I'm taking a herd to a local Christmas craft sale; and then not displaying them again until the Michigan Horse Council Stallion Expo in March. Enough small talk. It was nice to find a horse person on the site. Best regard, Colleen at Riverbank Farm, Michigan.Come visit me, Riverbank Farm.

Hi, When we first married, we rented a place that was about 20 some odd acres with five underfed neglected horses on it. The owner was absentee at best and they didn't even have a barn to get out of the weather so I became their "caregiver" and it was as if they knew I loved them right from the start. They showed up every morning and night and came as soon as they heard my truck coming down the drive. The owner (who lived just up the hill) would call me to check on them. It was destiny that we "found" them and they were my babies for 6 years. I miss them to this day as well as my own quarter horse "Dearly" who we had to sell when we moved. Letting go is sometimes the best thing but oh how hard it is!Come visit me, H & H Farm.

Thx for the visit Just figuring this site out and really like it so far. We take in monkeys occasionally so know the "rescue" side of things, Ferret and hedgehog were rehome critters too. My pic of two monks are our original owned and the rest came from various places like owners with failing health, laws making them illegal to own in particular areas, big life changes. We enjoy every one!Come visit me, JandA Alternative.

Recue Horse Been there done that. Had a recue horse last year. So badly starved didn't think he would make it through the winter. He lived for a year and a half and passed away of old age. Was 26 years when he died.Come visit me, Whitehill Farm.
