How did you get started with the alpacas? I would love to have a few and learn to spin the fiber!!! My friend has only one and he lets him run with the cows and hes filthy. He is well fed however it breaks my heart to see him running with the cows and dirty all the time. I'm tryin to convince him to give him to me so he can be properly taken care of....

  Looking for property in Pa.
I'm between properties and am looking for small acerage to homestead and have room and privacy for my dogs and myself. I want small acerage, with or w/o house ( not a big house, landscaped to the 9s,McMansion), reasonable, fair taxes. I will buy, rent, lease, share.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Come visit me, SRIGO.

Last week our 28 year old AQHA horse had to be put down after he had a bad bout of colic. We've had him for 25 of his 28 years and all 3 of our kids learned to ride on him. He is sorely missed.

Thanks to you all for looking at the farm site. My wife has had horses all her life. She grew up on a 106 acre Black Angus / Vegatable Truck Farm near Tyrone, Pa. We've had horses all along (one is 28 years old) and are now up to 3. The Alpaca's are a new addition and arrived in mid December. As always, never mind what others tell you - ours got hypothermic during our very cold winter and had to close them in the barn & blanket them. Otherwise, they are a great animal to have. I really don't know what the market will produce for us with the Alpaca's (we all know how the stories go!), but are excited to give it a try as something new. All 3 alpaca's are female and we will be breeding them next spring/summer.

  Welcome to Hobby farms.
How do you like raiseing the alpaca's? I looked into them once, but couldn't really see much of a market for them, other than selling them to someone else to start raiseing.
