Trying to get all end of the year meetings done for the next couple of weeks. Once our schedules we can get back to checking out the wood crafts. P2 has to make a toolbox napkin holder and a certificte holder.

We had beans in the icebox for 2 years and took not even 7 days to come up

P2 said it would take him a while, because 1st he's got to save up for the "right" tools before he could carve.

Well it stayed in the low 50's over the weekend. The North wind was nonstop for two days. Hubby was out in that rewiring the trailer and putting in the new lighting system. Since October the trailer has been out of commision since it was t-boned. Hubby and his dad got the axels replaced, took several months to get it primed and painted (due to the rain systems) and now they got the wiring done and the new led lights on it. Just need to screw the 18' oak boards to the frame and we will be good to go for hay season.

Well they are calling it to be 42 tonight. Still haven't gotten into the garden.

P2 helped his PaPa fence off the ball clover and see if it will reseed itself.

The weather looks great while P2 is in school and on the weekend it anything but that.

We got the cows AIed. That's done and maybe P2 can get in the shop and start working on his spoons again.

Mike that site is like candy to a kid. :-). P2 and I will tour it together when he gets in from working with Flash. Flash is his 1222 bull that he wants to show. I guess he wants to turn out Spotswatch after the fair because he's working 1500 pounds. CC is eating well just doesn't look like she's growing that well. Pickup a Hereford gilt for P2 to show for the October Fair. 3.25 inches of rain fall on us Saturday night and a lighting show to go along with it. Could get in the garden because the mustardgreens were still growing full force and now to wet to do anything.

If you come across any other great wood working site, keep us in mind. Thanks!

Not sure what type of slides Hubby will bring home. He got the frame put together and we are off the floor now.

I guess I will be staining this weekend instead of breaking down the fish tank. Either one realy doesn't smell that nice.

The hardest part about putting down the floor was getting everyone to agree on the direction of the floor. Well after that was completed, got it cut and then the toilet was the next big issue we had to deal with on a Saturday afternoon. But it down and looks great, don't know if I could handle that color like in our living room, but for a small 6'x7' bathroom I can handle the dark colors.

Have you ever put down that new floating laminate floor? That will be our next weekend project if we don't have that 50 mph wind coming out of the north like we did this past weekend.

P2 bottle feeding a heifer now. His settle/gilt has given birth yet evern though today is her 114. Now I'm wishing I did not make his orthodonist appt on the 5th.

I'm kicking myself in the butt, P2 make a fork using the scroll saw over the weekend. I was thinking I could snap a shot today, but he gifted it away....I will know better the next time. He rather work with cypress but he LOVES his hackberry.

Is it true that if your house floor freezes then the glue that holds down the tile loses it's ability to hold?

Having problems with the tiles in our bathroom not sticking to the floor. They been down for 13 years and now the pull up when you walk on them.

Been foogy because we bought the paint to paint the tin over the chicken coop.

P2 placed with his cattle and they are going to district on Feb 7th and 8th. If his cattle place with a purple ribbon then they go to state on the 10th and 11th.

Reordered his show chicks and they should come in this week. He lost one out of two roos and half the pullets on the 1st order. Nothing against Ideal Poultry, the chicks got damp inshipment and did not recover. So will see how the 2nd batch will do.

Will bring the livestock sponosered barrow to the slaughter house this coming weekend.

P2's Papaw brought up his band saw for him to work on his spoons. He made a sugar spoon over the weekend.

We washed and dried his bull. P2 clipped him and then his dad had to come back and shave him. Don't know who had their feelings hurt worse the bull because all his hair had to be shaved off or P2 because it was after the fact that he relized he used the wrong the blade. Oh well he's got two weeks to get some hair back.

P2 needs to interview a woodworking person. Are you game? If so do you want me to post the questions here, send them in the mail or email them to you? If you want me to mail the questions or email them to you can you give me your address or email address? It for his 2013-2014 Woodworking 4H Project. He's finished his 2012-2013 Fishing Book so he wants to work on this one during the summer. Thanks for all you advice and help over the years.

Mike, what is the best way to fix one of those feed buckets that's metal but looks like it was hot dipped?

The bucket came from P2's Great Grand Pa and we use it a lot. There is a hole that is forming at the seam at the very bottom of the bucket. As long as we feed pellets in it right now it doesn't go through it. But it's one of those just any time now.

Would love to reinforce the bottom with another piece of metal, but don't know if that's doable.

What'ch you think?

The spoons are either hand carved or done by machine. I go for the ones that have wired grains. The last on I'd purchase looks like the spoon part is on fire from how the grain is. We've got to get P2 smaller pigs on the calf scale and see what weights we are dealing with. I've got a livestock sponsor for his barrow and he needs to be 250 pounds or more for Jan 19. Amy will be coming home to be breed so her weight isn't that important.

Haven't gotten use to the gunieas just yet, they sound like turkeys and with hunting season for turkeys about to start.....don't know if that's a good thing or not.

Won't order any new chicks until mid-Nov.

The ones that he has now have a 1/2 of sack left of the starter and then they will be booted to the flock.

  1st how is your arm?

P2 might be going into bunessies with some chicken farmers in another parish. He will be growing chick to hens for them. Trying to iron out installment for each party. If this is a go for him, he will have year round babies and no hen to deal with. Will have to make a bigger broder and close in his chicken yard with chicken wire instead of the horse wire that we have.

Will know some time in October if all parties agree with terms.

P2 will be going to the high school next week to take the Hunter's Saftey Course to get his organce card. Knock off several things off his 4H list of things to complete before Feb 2013.

It took 3 trips to move the bulls/steers to the old chicken yard and I understand about the rut problems. The ground was good and soft under the tires and the ruts left behind because the weather turn dry are bad infront of the loading gate at the barn. Waiting on a rain before I knock down those hills.

Hey Mike, boy I could build another shed with that lumber...:-)

104 before 11:00 am no rain in sight grass is dead and now it looks like I will have to take the herd bulls out and put them in one place and put all the cows/heifers together and let them roam the entire place to find something that once was grass.

Pigs are in heaven now that I found a battery operated water timers that comes on more then once a day. Changed the tips to mist to conserve water and peace of mind that they aren't getting this 104 temp.

School will be in before we know it.

P2 is at the Jr. National Hereford Expo and learning with the big timers...

Have a great weekend!

Picked 20 tomatoes from the garden and that's about all that we are growing. Still nursing a broke left middle finger from Bear. Hubby is almost ready to paint my hog pen for the 77"x10' trailer. He welded the gates last weekend and welded the hinges and the gate to the pen.

Got the ramp painted and the "FOOFING4P2!" painted on both sides and I have hampshire pigs in all 4 "Os".

Be safe out in the sun, later gator.

Gave up on the garden this year. Those blasted morning glories about about to drive me NUTS!!!

Had to turn out Bear due to the absecess on his right ear that he lost the ear and since the halter can't stay on there is no use in finishing him through show season.

Got to get a pic or two on my new pig trailer that hubby is welding for me. Just don't know about the gate yet.

Two tomatoes picked and will let chicken have the entire garden in a few weeks.
