Debate
There is a lot of debate about doe age and size contributing to their easy kidding. We have used the principle that we want our girls at least 1.5 years old and at least 125 pounds. We relate it to humans. Would you want someone under a hundred pounds carrying twins or better. We try to think of all the stuff a human mom deals with in high stress pregnancies. It still isn't foolproof. You are very kind. We've talked about using a Boer buck on our Nubians this fall, but we're worried the kids' size would be a problem. Without a Doc for emergencies especially. None of our does would be first timers, but all are only average size. With the doe we just put down, kid size did not matter, just lots of legs.Come visit me, Larkshire Farm.

Kidding
We had to put our doe down yesterday. The kids were tangled and coming at the same time, head and neck of one and leg of another. I was at work talking my daughter through it. They just couldn't get things straightened out. She knew what and how to do it, that was the bad part. We don't have a vet closer than 90 mins, willing to care for goats. In almost 30 yrs of raising them this has happened 3x now. With out a vet I just don't know about breeding anymore.Come visit me, Larkshire Farm.
