New Babies This weekend I was happy to have 7 new baby chicks hatch. I have a Polish, 2 Americana banties, 2 black silkies, 1 self blue d'uccle banty, and one cute chick but I'm not sure who she belongs to. Most of the roosters are in my photos. I have some more coming and a couple in the hatch right now.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

New Chicks with Home Incubation Well, I'm happy to report that I have had really good luck with the Mini Eco Incubator by Brinsea. I have a new duck, a new chick and then 6 chicks hatched out on the 17th of Dec. I think I'm going to gather some of the banty eggs and see what I get. Plus I'm lucky enough to have my polish hens laying eggs as well. I don't know if the rooster is doing his job but it would be one way to find out. The winter has been a little long for me but the critters have been keeping each other warm so the hens are still laying lots of eggs. The ducks, the geese, and the turkey are keeping everyone else warm.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

New Adventures Well, we have acquired some new babies. We ordered a few from Cackle Hatchery and then about 15 Assorted Bantams from Pure Poultry, a new place that I was really happy to find. All but 2 have been doing very well so I'm happy about that. I'm trying an experiment of hatching chicks/ducklings with chicks. Since I have to have the high temps for the new chicks, they have water for the moisture, I put some eggs in there with them to see if any would hatch. I turn them about 3 times per day and can tell something is developing but will have to wait and see how it all turns out and whether or not we get some babies.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

tragedy in July Well,I have been devastated by the next door neighbor's husky mix. While we were away July 31st, the dog got loose and intentionally found his way into my tented area that I had all my silkies in and my cochins and younger chickens and killed all of them but about 5. You put so much love and work into raising them and they are gone in an instant. No amount of money can ease the heartbreak of what happened. I lost my favorite Casanova (Casey) my white silkie rooster. I did order 10 more chicks, that should be arriving Friday or Sat. 5 blue cochin and 5 black silkies. Since it's the end of the year, I took what they had and I'm hoping they all survive.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

Summer is Fleeting All the critters are doing well. The turkeys and geese are getting big and are trying to fly around. Today we have had a ton of rain. I'm surprised my chickens aren't floating down the hill. The ducks are probably loving it.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

The second batch is doing better than the first The new bantams and Polish hens and the silkies seem to be doing far better than the first set. I think we have lost 2. I lost one of my brahma hens because she got out of the chicken pen and the dog got out of the dog yard. I was not too happy about that. It's looking more like spring here in Alaska and the snow has melted away nicely so I'm hopeful that the weather will keep warming.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

More chicks We went and got 10 more chicks. 4 Polish, 4 bantams and 2 Silkies. There are a couple of the bantams that might be blue or black silkies but they are so cute. The rest of the crew is doing well. The Light Brahmas are filling out nicely. The turkeys are very nice too. It's easy to tell them apart. One likes to be held and have its head petted and the other doesn't like to be held at all.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

The 5 week Peking Ducks we did take in the Peking ducks. Apparently the story behind them was a boyfriend bought them for his girlfriend and the relationship ended so they needed a new home for the ducks which might be a couple. They are as big as my full grown Cayuga ducks and have a very loud quack. The loud quacker, is going to be called Aflac. The other one just beeps a little so I'll have to think about a name for that one.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

No Luck with Polish or Silkies I bought 3 Polish and 3 Silkies on Sat. and unfortunately they were all expired by Monday night. I was kind of bummed about that. All the other critters are doing well. I clipped the youngins wings last night, they are a vibrant bunch.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

Peking Duck Well, it sounds like we will be adding the Peking ducks to the flock this evening. I think I will have to build a duck pond in conjunction with fencing in the critters to keep the Hawks from getting in. Every one is doing well. I have learned to not name my newbies until I'm pretty sure they are going to be with me. So far the bantams have all done well so, it might be time to give them names. Pictures will be forth coming.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

More new Poultry, I'm going to have to build on Well, yesterday I wasn't feeling well at all and went home and went to bed with a rotten headache that took me out for the rest of the day. Later that afternoon, my son comes up to my room with a box that was making noise. He and his friend Loren went to the Alaska Feed store again. This time he came home with 2 white runners, ducks and 2 geese, that will be white too. I can't think of the name right off. I'm in love with the one goose. It was so sweet and cuddly. I told my son, to tell Loren thanks for the birthday gift I love it. My birthday is on Easter. Then my daughter was on facebook and one of her friends got 2 peking ducks a month ago and they need a home, so I told her to tell her friend that we would take them. I have completely lost my mind.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.

You are all so wonderful I'm so glad that you have checked us out. If any one is from Fairbanks, Alaska holler out. My big dream right now is a horse. I want a horse so desperately, and have for quite some time. God knows my heart and will know when the time is right. It's interesting because the man we are renting from on a lease to own basis wants to move all his stuff which is in the location where I want to be able to have my horse. I have added some new pics of my new babies and thank God the little bantams all seem to be doing really well. The turkeys are very sweet especially Timmy, who falls asleep when you pet it's head. No way this turkey will be any one's dinner. Thanks in advance for all your help and advice. I'm very new at this but I love it. The eggs are wonderful and I included a picture of my most recent gathering. 5 out of 7 is pretty good I think.Come visit me, Mrs. Kellogg's Kluckers and Companions.
