Have you made any more jelly? I need a recipe for zucchini jelly, that's doing extremely well. My daughter was feeding the chicks and one escaped, ran under the shed. She could't catch it. But,one of the dogs will. I've had only one dog that wouldn't eat a chick. She would bring baby quail to me. The poor things all covered with slobber, no idea where she found the nest. She was always so gentle and proud.I miss her.

  Funny weird
I grew up in Montana, Billings just had a tornado...not at all usual! Here we had freezing weather then 2 days later 97 degrees F., it's been hot ever since.

Your growing season must be way ahead of mine. We've barely gotten the garden in, and you're already putting up jam!

  Jams and crazy chicks....
Sighhhh Jam season is upon the Mystic Glen Farms, did a wee batch of blueberry jam (Only eight jars ) last night and strawberry is going to be done this week-end, maybe dill pickles as well considering I have friends clamouring for a couple of cases of pickles, going to combine rhubarb with some of the strawberries and do that up, as for the chicks , the "girls" are flapping and poo-ing like crazy, testing them out on a temporary branch in their brooder to see if they'll roost on it and now all of them now have caught on and fall asleep on it, only one of them took a header off of the branch.

I'm sending you a hug, back. Sorry about your chick, too. It is hard, when something dies. I havn't gotten to the "oh, well it was an animal place". I hope, I never do.

  Sad Day
Lost a favorite doe yesterday, kidding. 30 years raising goats it's happened 3 times, when we just couldn't get kids sorted out and untangled. No vet, at least none closer than 90 min. Heartsick.

  Farm name
I've thought about Gaelic, it would be fun. How are your babies? My ducklings are out of the brooder and outside, settling in nicely. My chicks are doing well, not as high strung as last year. I'm waiting for my doe, Sunny to kid, anytime now.

All 12 are doing amazingly well , the Golden laced Wyandottes are chubbies , right along with the Orpingtons, the 2 Polish are the sweetest things ever, the Jerseys are getting bigger by the day, the Barred Rocks are starting to develop some colour variations and the Lakenvelders are so pretty in colouring, going to post pics this afternoon .

Did youe get them? I picked part of mine up thia AM. Still waiting for the Marans. Naming your farm reminds me of ours. I wanted Meadow Larks in the name , my daughter wanted Shire [because we're Irish/Scot/English?] We're meaning my kids, I'm Norwegian, so nothing would be pronouncible!

My chicks should be here Tuesday. Be carefil with the Polish. My daughter added one to my chicks last year and it is totally nuts. Maybe extra socializing would have helped. I have the craziest hen house, now.
