  Dexter Cows
How are you liking the Dexter? I've thought about adding them in the future. Like smaller livestock. Please post photos of them sometime.

  i do like my brahmas
they are mild mannered so are the ameraucanas cochins like to fight more than either of these two. the wellsummer roosters were the only ones of all the types i tried that ever went after me the brahmas tend to lay giant double yolked eggs though.

I thought those were Orpingtons. I had pretty much decided on Buff Orpingtons and your comments make me think all the more they are the right choice for my future farm. If I were not renting, with no yard to speak of, I would start right away. I love the look of the bird and that it is a dual purpose chicken.

Thank you for the comments on my girls! The Homestead: I love my Buff Orpingtons- they are still young (6 months) and just have started laying. I haven't had any go broody on me yet, but I do have a few roosters. They are laying like crazy- I have about 40 Buff's and Australorp's and am getting over 30 eggs a day! Not bad for as cold as it has been here. Both are beautiful chickens too and have wonderful temperments.

Come visit me, Plain Jane's.

Talking about gabbing around a different type of water cooler. How do you like your buff chickens? Our son only has two and they both went broody on him right after he sold all his roosters. Talking about cutting your egg production down by 1/2.
