Farm Name: For The Fun Farm (this is my poultry page)

Year Farm Established: 1997

Location: Fayetteville, TN

Years I’ve been farming: 18 years

Animals I raise: Cattle, chickens, rabbits.

Crops I grow: No crops. I have my own garden though..... =)

Hobbies I enjoy: Showing cattle in 4-H. I have been farming all my life (I'm 13 years old). I also like entering crafts and vegetables in our local fair!

Club/Associations memberships: Tenn. Cattleman's Association. Greatly involved in 4-H and showing cattle. I also participate in the livestock judging class in 4-H and do very well in the competitions.

Pets: Many chickens, a show heifer, 3 cats, 2 rabbits and a hackney pony.

Most of the chickens that my family has are from the 4-H "Chick Chain".

Explanation of the "Chick Chain": The Chick Chain is where 4-Hers get a batch (12 to 24 chicks) of chicks at the begining of May then, the 4-H kids raise up the chicks. In September at our local fair each 4-Her will show at least 6 of their best chickens and those go to auction to pay for the batch that they got earlier in the year, therefore being a "Chick Chain". The 4-Hers get to keep the rest of the chickens. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Farm Motto: Do it 100%

  Animal stories
Yes, I will try to remember. Actually, one I've already written is about a Polish rooster I had in Pennsylvania years ago - his name was Old Weird Harold, and he was a very goofy guy!

  Percherons and animal stories
Hi - the beautiful black colt (Eli) in that photo is going gray like his mama. He is now 3 years old and we get good reports on him from the people who now own him. I have not published stories - right now working on some and thinking about what to do with them, whether to publish them via my own farm blog (electronic only), or through a self-publishing service for print.

No, not my buffalo. It's at a ranch near me. Just always facinated by them. I'd have to ease into getting them. They are pretty intimidating. While we were taking that piture he just kept getting closer & closer. I had visions of "when animals attack" in my head.
