Farm Name: Pitchfork Ranch

Year Farm Established: 2011

Location: Tucumcari, NM

Years I’ve been farming: 2 years

Animals I raise: Chickens and sell their eggs

Crops I grow: corn and potatoe's

The proudest moment on my farm: When we were able to expand, allowing our chicks to free range. Our dream has been to raise Maran’s and we have begun to make that dream a reality, we received our baby chicks a month ago.

Pets: chickens, ducks, cats and 1 dog

Farm Motto: Living the good life

Yelp that's P2 and this is his 2nd year in 4H. We would still have the chickens and the cattle if he wasn't in 4H. Pigs came to the Homestead with his swine project and even when he's done with that, I think they will be here...just not the ones we rasing up for the piglet to freezer project.

Come visit me, The Homestead.

How do you like your red-sex link pullets? At what age do they start to lay? What color are their eggs? Our son has two young ones in his flock. Don't know if they are old enough to lay. He got them as day old chicks back in March.

Thanks for the reply. I say sneek a bottle fed baby Highland home and your husband will never know the differance.Lol. It will be well worth the risk.lol We love them. They love us, especially at brushing and treat time. How many intimidating animals with ginormous horns do you know of that you can lay down and take a nap with? Of course our fainting goats are spoiled little critters as well. I am just glad the Highlands don't try to jump in my lap like the goats do. Best wishes for a great farming day.
