Years I’ve been farming: 2 years old

Animals I raise: Sheep, poultry, swine, rabbits, hoping to get our bee hives up and running soon too.

Crops I grow: Lavender, alfalfa, grass hay, veggies, fruit trees, sunflowers, herbs

Hobbies I enjoy: Our farm, fishing, skiing, family fun, scrapbooks, hiking, photography, bee keeping. ..anything outdoors, but love cooking too.

Club/Associations memberships: 4H in Bonner County, Girl Scouts, Panhandle Autism society...

The proudest moment on my farm: Our first new lambs!

Pets: Zion is a Golden Retriver Service Dog for our son, Taya is our daughters Schipperke, and our newest puppy is a beautiful Great Pyrenees named Kenai. We traded two lambs for our awesome sheep dog. We also have a few barn cats, Klamath, Buckeye, Scott, Lucy, and Bob. And a Guinea Pig named Charlie.

One new lamb...24 new pullets As the snow continues too fall, our new chicks are now 3 weeks old & a single lamb was born in the snow from a mama that always has twins. New lambs.... We had two of our Painted Desert Barbados Ewes lamb last week, both had beautiful twins. We lost one day old lamb after her mama got pneumonia. Monday, here we come! It was a very dreary weekend, although we are thankful for the little rain we did get. The sheep broken through one of our old fences, one of the only one not yet replaced. That made for some entertainment for neighbors driving by our place. I bartered with a woman and her husband after finding an add on craigslist over a month ago. I have traded two beautiful lambs from our breeding stock for a 4 month old Livestock Gaurdian Dog. His name is Kenai, which is very appropriate considering our family just moved her from Alaska. :) He looks like his mother, a pure breed Great Pyrenees, but his fathers is 1/2 Anatolian Shepherd and 1/2 Akabash....so all the best LGD breeds. I have been looking for months and am so anxious to bring him home. It will still be a week or two yet as the current owners and I are making plans to meet half way between our locations. Their ranch is about 4 hours west of ours. I have a photos to share already though. Other important news on our farm, our Golden girls (3 new Buff Orpington hens) have started laying large eggs. We call their roost "The Daisy Roost", our big roost is called "Katie's Sunflower Roost". Our 8 year old sells her eggs to buy feed, but also to earned money to buy her own horse. She has 21 hens & 1 rooster named Rex. She also has one other roost she calls " The Sweet Peas Roost", mostly her blue & black silkies, but also 3 adopted hens and one young red rooster named " Rowdy". He competes with a Blue Silkie rooster named " Crystal". My daughter, Katie is in 4H, girl scouts, soccer, and ballet. Our son's name is Trapper, he's six and also in 4h and we are considering boy scouts, but Trapper has Autism and is considered non-verbal, so we are still just considering the invitation. Heat wave It has been over a month since we have seen rain on the ranch, everything is dry and Fires are a worry. Anxious to feel falls soon. This ain't Alaska anymore....closer to California. Our lambs are due in three weeks and we are busy building a good lambing barn now. Thanks for checking out our updates.
