It is so fun to see all the babies on the farm! Every time I pass the barnyard the goat kids are tearing around the place playiing together. The lambs are so sweet too. I caught one of them yesterday just jumping up and down in place as happy as can be. Don't you just love spring! Come visit me, Hannah's Homestead.

So far I have three lambs this spring with one more ewe left to go. God's creation is amazing and it is such a blessing to be entrusted with the care of it! All three lambs have dark beautiful black and brown wool which will be so much fun to spin. Come visit me, Hannah's Homestead.

Hey Hannah! Thanks for the comment! I have Saxony ducks. They are a fantastic breed in all respects. Good meat, good eggs, Hardy (as ducks go) against predators, and exceptional foragers. I have one drake and 2 females that serve one purpose and one purpose only...SLUGS! They leave no leaf un-turned. Eggs may be a bonus later on, they're too young yet. I have never tried duck eggs but I hear they are amazing for baking?! Ducks are so much fun, I highly reccommend them!Come visit me, The Belly Acre.

Yep, we render the tallow from beef fat--it's kind of smelly so we do it outside. If your interested, we talk a little more about soap-making on our wordpress blog: http://pleasanthillponderings.wordpress.com/Come visit me, Pleasant Hill Farm.

Hey! Hey Hannah - thanks for the comment (Pleasant Hill Farm)! We make our own soap base from tallow and lye, re-mill that after curing, and then add fragrances. It takes several days to go through the whole process - but it's lots of fun. I see you are a spinner and knitter - are you on Ravelry? If so, I am claypottery12Come visit me, Pleasant Hill Farm.
