Farm Name: Rumsey Hill Farm

Year Farm Established: 2010

Location: Newfield, NY

Years I’ve been farming: 5 years

Animals I raise: Raised pigs last year. Need to fix my fencing prior to getting some beefers. Still thinking about chickens.

Crops I grow: Tomatoes, potatoes, squash, beets, peppers, onions, lettuce and corn

Hobbies I enjoy: Farming is my new hobby.

The proudest moment on my farm: Putting up hay last year was my first and I had a great deal of satisfaction getting it stacked in the barn with a job well done. Good quality hay which I then sold to neighboring farmers that raised goats, sheep, horses or cows. We put up 1000 bales this last summer as well.

Pets: 2 cats.

Farm Motto: Eat local.

  Great photos!
Welcome, how many pigs did you raise? We're talking about getting some, but my bacon-loving daughter has issues with eating a pig she knows.

I love all the beautiful snow pictures! I know what you mean about haying. We use all the hay we put up and there is such a feeling of security at the end of the year when the loft is full!

Come visit me, Hannah's Homestead.
