MY FARM

KB Acres from Ogden, IA
KB Acres

Farm Name: KB Acres

Year Farm Established: 2007

Location: Ogden, IA

Years I’ve been farming: 7 years

Animals I raise: Pigs for butcher and breeding, Fainting goats, chickens for eggs and butcher, and sheep

Hobbies I enjoy: We enjoy being self sufficient. So trying new things to limit our need for the big corporate world is a great hobby of ours.

The proudest moment on my farm: We were the most excited when we hatched one egg last spring. Our first baby chicken has became a beautiful rooster.

Pets: We have four dogs, Sally - a chocolate lab, Jack - a black lab/pointer mix, Tessy - a rat terrier, and Fancy - a schnauzer, and Sweetie our house cat

We do not notch any of the pigs ears. We are small enough that I know exactly which pig is what. Since we normally farrow only two sows at a time, all of the pigs end up with names. And I know what you mean by not a typical Iowa winter. I think this day being in the negatives has woken a lot of people up. But I won't complain since it has taken us January to have snow and cold weather. I was kinda looking forward to 50 degree weather and skipping winter and jumping into spring. I am ready for a new bunch of babies on the farm!

  Welcome
Welcome! Fun to see others from Iowa here! I love the piglets! Been a strange winter this year, haven't had to wade through the snow to feed the horses. Afraid it may be dry though for the gardens and fields this summer if we don't get at least some snow.

Come visit me, 7th Heaven.

  Thank you both!
Thank you for the wonderful welcome. We have KB Acres due to our names both start with K & B, but we wanted something that showed it was melted together and it just flows for our little acreage. We love having the piglets. I enjoy trying to snap pictures of the cuties when they are so little and curious!
