busy in sad times we havent been able to post much. On March 28 our Heidi gave birth to Oreo...Unfortunely she died on the 30 and left her daughter as an ophan. Last Thursday Oreo also passed away. It seems that this year in our area it was a bad season for goats. The warm wimter didnt kill off worms..nice warm weather then a massive turn around caused most of the goats to get pneumonia With the stress of the weather change and birthing that is what killed Heidi..Oreo probably also had pnemonia and being born prematurely she also succombbed to cocaidias. This past Wednesday we moved on and got 3 more goats. It hurt to lose Heidi but for me it hurt worse when we lost Oreo. Bottle fed and living in the house, we grown to love her and nuture her the best we could...Oreo is now buried next to our cat who lost his battle 3 years ago. Its comforting to know as I garden that she's right there to be with meCome visit me, bad goat farms.

Bad goats! I've got a Pygmy nanny that would fit right in with your farm name, she could be the mascot! She is definatley the "pasture queen", I've had her and another for almost a year & have made a little progress with approachability but she is still bossy towards the others and very aggresive when it comes to food. She had a kid last June, she's a little like momma but much easier to handle. Still fun.Come visit me, Navarres Farmette.

Turken Chickens They are just like regular chickens for raising.....However they are very protective of the hens and do not like it when my wife wears pink :). They tend to lay less eggs then the red sex hens and are almost a white color. Have not seen a downside yet...but time will tell we have about 20 chickens right now and in the summer time we will have about 130 then go back down to about 30 after the meat birds go in the freezer.Come visit me, bad goat farms.

Do you have to worry about blackhead like you do if you are raising turkeys? What are their temperment like? Do you find this breed to go brood easy on you? What color eggs do they lay? Any down side to having these chickens? Welcome and thanks for your POV.Come visit me, The Homestead.
