Thank you for visiting our page!
We made the greenhouse on the cheap, we used recycled windows and lumber. We did have to buy new roofing material. We are going to try heating it with compost, not sure how that will work out.

  chickens, chickens
Hello - Been raising chickens in NW Arkansas for about 20 years. Buy from McMurry and Ideal, 100 pullets at a time, different breeds. Going to try Cackle this next spring - they have a selection of my choice 25 per breed, 100 chicks for $2.05. Buy only pullets, raise them to 12 weeks, sell for $15. ea. Brown egg layers. Costs about $3.75-$4.25 to buy and raise them.
Guess my best deal is getting Rhode Island Red pullets 50/$1.65 each from Ideal and then another breed (Barred rock) $2.35. Just change Around, sometime get 50 Red Stars, Brahamas or whatever. Doesn't really matter, people buy them all. My really favorite chicken is the Buff Orpington. It's just an old man's hobby and use the profit to pay down what little is left on the mortgage. We have 2 acres. Also do small woodcraft - cedar chests, ball point pens, etc. Wife has had a custom sewing business for many years, but now just makes stuff for the great grand kids.
Like I said, we are in NW corner of Arkansas - Fayetteville - Go Hogs!
If you need to discuss chickens, predators, feed or whatever, just yell at me. Used to have a 400 egg incubator, but got tired of raising roosters and then selling them for $1 or free. SO now, we buy pullets.
My real job is a one man real estate firm selling mainly rural property out of my house. No fancy office - too old for all of that.

  Pickles
Thanks for dropping by, and yes - the closer jar is a few pickled peppers, and the other is dill pickle. First attempt, had always wanted to try, but was leary cause my mom used to make pickles and although they tasted good I never liked the texture. These came out great though, so next year, I'm going to do up a lot more.

Great looking horse, btw, would love to have one again but we are spatially challenged or too far from the real land our family used to farm for us to be able to keep one. Maybe I can find a mini to satisfy the urge for now ;)!

Come visit me, Cheaper than therapy.

  Hi!
Thanks for the comment on my farm page. A Pygora is a cross between an angora and pygmy. They stay the size of a pygmy but produce fleece like an angora. Because they don't get very big their fleece stay marketable and soft their whole lives.
