Every hen in the flock is laying including the ducks. I need some new ideas on selling them. My buyer has become questionable. Not steady. Farmers markets are full. I have signs on my car doors. If anyone has any kind of idea please let me know. I sell them for four dollars per dozen. In order to make anything that is what I need to get. Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

Love your birds Your pics are great, I can especially appreciate the upside down one! I too have chickens, but only 5. Our chickens hatched on August 20, 2012, and only 2 are laying(our Buff Orpington and our Easter Egger). I am waiting for our Silver laced Wyandotte, and Australorps to lay. No free range, unless I am with them in the yard, as we have hungry hawks.Come visit me, funky farm.

Predators I have been having many problems with predators. Heads, necks and guts gone. One very large laying hen every night. I am really frustrated. No tracks, fence not damaged. Going to try to figure it out tonight. We have set live traps out and nothing is hitting them.Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

The girls are beginning to lay a few more eggs. They went into a hiatus with 15 days of rain and no sun. The pekins are really growing. Discovered I have two mallard hems and one drake. The geese, Mary Todd, Abe and Camille are also growing. Looking forward to spring. My meat birds will be ready for butchering in just a couple of weeks. Getting a hog butchered in two weeks and have a deer in the freezer. Not many trips to store will be necessary. Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

No on the fresh coop product. I just clean nest boxes frequently. Since the rain and cold they have messing the boxes up badly. Finally put a few lights out there. Will turn on for a few hours every day. Feed is pricey. Been free ranging 100 percent of time but heard a coyote last night. Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

Weather We are battening down the hatches because of this rain and the thunderstorms coming through today. Chickens, geese, and ducks are not free ranging and the hatch is closed on the coop. Meat birds are in their coop also. Egg production will prob be at their lowest next couple of days. Will be 50 for the high tomorrow. Major temp change. It got up to 80 yesterday. Our colt hopped the three board fence, she is a Houdini. Broke the top panel slap up. Everyone have a great Christmas.Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

P2's blue mix hen and the 3 americanas that he had left are the only ones laying. He's attached to those cubalana but they are marching on 4 now and he has only pullets left which have a good excuses why they are not layen. I guess me being hitler and not allowing the light on the coop is our main problem. Got a heat lamp and a 100 watt rough service going in the brooder. P2 talking about showing some hens. Can't get in touch with Ag agent not a surprise there. Will have to find him a poultry standard book and find the information myself like we done with the pig and cattle.Come visit me, The Homestead.

Homestead, not sure what you are referring to. Is it a flat to store full cartons or what. I get my cartons from eggcartons.com. Let me know. I might be able to utilize it. Have you seen the old retro egg weighing device on eggcartons.com. It is free with 30 dollar order. And I had just ordered cartons. Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

Can't really give you any accurate info on the ducks. There is a lady who is in the Louisiana market bulletin who sells ducks and duck eggs. She is a wealth of real info. Yes, that is some of Patrick's pullets. He is a great kid. I really do admire both him and his parents. Just good people. Hungarian settlement is located west of Hammond, east of Baton Rouge. Kind of in middle of no where.. The duck lady is in slaughter. I have read that khaki ducks are better for eggs.Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

I'm thinking about buying some ducks when I place my chicken order this spring, but I'm not sure what kind of care they need and what breed would be best for egg production. Can you give any advice? Come visit me, B-K Homestead.

Think it is an owl because of the weight of the ducks. I have three big geese in there. Hot them in hopes of guard qualities but no such luck. Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

Welcome to the community! So sorry to hear you are having trouble with night prowlers. I've had trouble with my own dogs killing goats and chickens in the past. Until I can figure out how to make their turn out pen totally secure I'm waiting on getting more animals. I'll be looking into the llama's. Sounds like it might be an owl you are having trouble with. Not heard of a hawk doing damage at night. Good luck.Come visit me, Highland Farm LLC.

Ducks gone Going to cover the area they stay in at night. This can't happen again. The chickens roost in a covered area, the ducks and geese are kind of vague with the night area. Thanks for the suggestions. It must have been a large owl because the ducks are heavy.Come visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.

Sorry to hear about your loss You may want to check around and see if someone near you has guard llamas for sale. I don't know how effective they would be against an owl or a hawk, but they are very effective against coyotes or foxes, something like that. A llama would live comfortably grazing 0.4 acres and usually a guard llama is reasonably priced.Come visit me, Purdy lil' Suri Alpaca Farm.

Massacre Looks like an owl or something got two of my white pekins last night. Duck eggs are valued at 1 dollar each not to mention part of my flock is gone. Any suggestions on predator control. The ducks and geese just like to sit in the middle of the pen under no cover. Please reply with any practical solutions. The pen is about a .4 acre in size. Thanks for any inputCome visit me, Elizabeth's free range eggs.
