As I was looking into other farmer's comments in their farm profiles, I stumbled across one lady who raises ducks along with her chickens which got me thinking more about having a full bird barn - chickens, turkeys, ducks, and maybe even pheasants if I continue making jewelry with the feathers they provide.

I'm wondering if anyone has raised ducks to know how their meat tastes when raised yourself vs. purchased in the store or in a restaurant.

  Canning
Does anyone have any recommendations or tips for canning? I have done very little but hope to change that this coming year.

We've decided to grow a bit larger
We've been talking about the animals we will have and what all we will grow on our farm (after reading Backyard Homestead) and have decided for sure on goats, sheep, and chickens. My husband has decided he wants to raise pigs as he did when he was younger, and I have been debating on rabbits as well. We have decided to grow a lot more crops than initially planned for but after reading that book we have discovered how much room we will have available to us and why not?!

  Our Projects
My husband and I are working on buying a house so we can start our miniature farm. We're planning on starting with an acre. I want to get chickens (again) and set up an account so that I can learn more about the animals I would like to add to the farm like goats, sheep, and maybe more... we'll see. :)
