Karen Keb Acevedo lives on a hobby farm in Nicholasville, Kentucky, with her husband, Dennis, where she cultivates heirloom vegetables, grows herbs, and raises pet goats.
 
In her daytime job, she serves as editor-in-chief of the Hobby Farms division of BowTie Inc. She has edited Hobby Farms magazine since 2002 and launched Hobby Farm Home magazine in 2006.

The Bluegrass, with its distinct green, rolling hills and stately horse farms, has proved to be excellent grounds for nurturing her love of all things heirloom. Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, the Slow Food Bluegrass convivium, and the historic Woodford Reserve Distillery are among her favorite local inspirations.
