How about natural pest repelent for horses?

I'd rather have to use a natural remedy and have to use it more often then to use a petrol-chemical based remedy and have those petrol-chemicals affecting me.

My mother and aunt swear by Listerine mouthwash as an insect repellant. They put it in a spray bottle and spray their clothing and all around the deck. I have not tested this out but thought I would share.
