Honey Health Benefits

Could honey offer more health benefits to humans? Scientists meet to examine other possible findings.

Could honey have the potential to offer more health benefits such as antiseptic and antibaterial benefits--or even aid more serious conditions--for humans?

According to the Committee for the Promotion of Honey and Human Health it could.

A group of scientists meeting at international symposium in Sacramento, Calif., plan to discuss some of the possible benefits, including:

  • its potential to improve chemotherapy-induced neutropenia
  • wound healing
  • restorative sleep
  • cough suppression
  • cognitive function

The Committee, a non-profit group that organized the symposium, hopes the discussion also will help stimulate further research that could advance the role for honey in other health issues like weight management or even risk reduction for neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer 's disease and Parkinsonism. Well, hotdog!!! Didn't realize I'm getting so much benefit in putting honey in my food! I put it in my cold cereal, hot cereal (oatmeal), when I bake my cornbread, etc. I've like to use it as a sugar substitute whenever I can. I'm going to look for more use of it now.

I've spent quite a bit of time in Eastern Europe. The first thing they take over there is honey when they start felling sick. I can't wait to get my hive going!

Honey is the first medicine I give to my kids and it works! You have to keep in mind tho the pasteurized stuff isn't 100% natural. All the "goodies" are gone.
