What is a Cooperative Extension
The Cooperative Extension Program is a nationwide, non-credit educational network.

“Extension” means “reaching out,” and—along with teaching and research—the nation's more than 100 land-grant colleges and universities “extend” their resources, solving public needs with college or university resources through non-formal, non-credit programs.

Cooperative extension offices are staffed by one or more experts who provide useful, practical, and research-based information to agricultural producers, small business owners, youth, consumers, and others in rural areas and communities of all sizes.

They are an excellent resource for many topics, however, I have found the gardening resources very valuable for knowing what to grow in my climate.
