Scottish Shortbreads

Buttery shortbread cookies are a holiday favorite that are perfect for festive cookie cutters or cookie molds.

Make your own Scottish Shortbreads with Hobby Farms

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, beat butter with electric mixer. Add sugar gradually, followed by flour, beating well after each addition. To use cookie cutters, roll out dough on lightly floured surface, to about 1/3-inch thick. Cut out and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until lightly golden.

Makes about 24 rolled cookies.

Made these today with one of my grandson's. They were fast and easy to make. We frosted them and put jimmies on them. They were really good. As you can see I said were. We had a lot of fun doing this. Thank you for such a quick and easy recipe.

I'll make this one just because it's labeled "Scottish!"
We recently went to the Scottish Festival in St. Louis and I was desperate to buy their pretty shortbread pans. Just amazed that the recipe doesn't call for oat flour! Those Scots and their oats!
