The Goal of Farming

The Goal of Farming

Japanese scientest Masunoba Fukuoka, author of The One-Straw Revolution (Other India Press, 1992), turned his back from modern big-ag practices and focused on the connection between practical and philosophical aspects of farming. Often, as farmers, we think we need to know it all in order to get the perfect harvest. The truth is that our knowledge will always be limited. Despite our best attempts to seek out more information, there will be something new to learn, and in that concept is beauty. It frees of from the need for perfection. While we are cultivating tomatoes, beans, peppers and apples, agriculture teaches us about patience, balance, innovation and more.
