To All the Friends I’ve Loved Before

Karen K. Acevedo
Editor in Chief

As I was driving into work this morning, I decided I wanted to write a blog.

It’s been about 2 months since I posted anything; not because I lost interest, but because I just got done shipping four magazines in about 5 weeks. A record for us! I thought about what I truly love about my job, and I realized that it’s you, the readers!

I read the comments made on our website, on my Facebook page, and I receive direct messages from you on Twitter, and people…you are the best!

I feel like Hobby Farms (and Hobby Farm Home, and now Urban Farm) readers make up a community that shares, contributes and cares. I love to hear what you’re doing with your farms and animals, what you’ve learned from the magazines and how you’ve applied it to some aspect of your life.

Through all these new social networking tools, you readers are now “real” people to me, and I hope I am to you too.

Special thanks to all the people who offered comfort when I posted on Facebook about having to put down my cat of 15 years, Oliver. Your comments made my day.

That’s it for today; I promise to come back next time with something a little more thought provoking.

To become a fan of the magazines, go to HFHFH and UF.

Cheers!

Karen, I have enjoyed reading your HF stricles and editorials over the years. Based on your being off the editorial page on the latest HF, I guess you have moved on. Best of luck!
