Creating Your Quilt Foundation

Download these instructions to create patchwork squares using the foundation method, and make your quilt more manageable.

Any successful crazy quilt requires a firm foundation. Erin McKay used this foundation method when creating her memory quilt (“Patchwork of Memories,” January-February 2010 Hobby Farm Home), allowing her to work on her quilt square by square.

I love crazy quilts. A great way to use up bits and pieces.

It downloaded for me in less than a minute. I right clicked on the link that said "download instructions here" just below the photo and told it to save it to my desktop. No problems. 8 MB is NOT big for a file. It's a PDF file so you do need to have Adobe Acrobat (free) installed to be able to read it. if you still can't get it, try Google and look for stuff like crazy quilt directions or CQ pattern. Lots of them out there. I've been a quilter for over 30 years and a computer geek for almost as long.. and crazy quilts are by far my most favorite ones. No such thing as too busy!!! :-)

It downloaded fine for me. It IS a large file - 8.67 MB, so maybe it just takes a while longer for some to download it.
