Protecting your livestock from predators, like coyotes, foxes and even bears, can be a daunting task. Luckily, there are other animals you can keep on the farm to help. Depending on your protection needs, a guardian dogdonkey or llama can help keep predatory animals away from your flock or herd. We've had a Llama for the past eight years and until this past year never had a problem with coyotes. Last year we lost 20 lambs, one of them not 20' from the hayfeeder the Llama was eating out of! We're going to try a dog now to see if he's doing better.

We have a couple of llamas to guard our small goat herd. The llamas will alert to any 'foreign' animal, i.e. a moose was lumbering up the long driveway and the llama was clicking away, saying, "You don't belong here!" Great guardians!

We have 2 great pyrnesse dogs to guard our goats & chickens on the farm, they do a great job.
