Flea, the bassist for L.A.-based band Red Hot Chili Peppers, has started an urban bee hive. Three, actually, totaling more than 200,000 bees, according to TMZ.

The musician has been beekeeping for a few months now, in part for his love of bees and in part for his love of the environment. A known environmentalist, Flea took on the project in an attempt to increase the honeybee population, Rolling Stone reports. Flea, whose real name is Michael Balzary, calls his apiary “Flea’s Bees” and has posted photos of his beekeeping skills on social media. Check them out:
