Happy Thanksgiving, Craft Hub readers! I’m back with another easy sewing project that is sure to make your Thanksgiving a little more festive: an easy-to-sew Thanksgiving banner.

If you love to sew as much as I do, then check out some of my other sewing tutorials at my blog, The Seasoned Homemaker, where I comment on all things delightfully domestic.

Let’s make a Thanksgiving banner.

Here are the materials you’ll need:

  • a few fat quarters of fall fabrics
  • 1 package of Wrights double-fold bias tape (1/2 inch or larger)
  • thread
  • rotary cutter
  • quilting ruler
  • cutting mat

Stack all of your fabrics before cutting.

From a piece of paper or cardstock, cut out a triangle that is 8½ inches on the sides and 6 inches across the top.

Lay out your triangles in a way that uses the least amount of fabric.

Cut out at least 30 triangles using your rotary cutter and mat. Because the fabric is layered, this might mean only three to four cuts.

Pin two triangles wrong sides together.

With a 1/4-inch seam allowance, stitch the two triangles together.

Press open one edge of the bias tape.

Find the center of the bias tape and mark with a pin. From the center outwards, pin the 6-inch edge of the banner triangles to the raw edge of the bias tape, right sides together.
