Available in standard and bantam varieties, Leghorns were first developed in Italy. The breed gets its name from the Italian city of Leghorn (also known as Livorno), where it originated. Leghorns come in two recognized colors: white and pearl white. Breeders have experimented with creating other colors, including brown and blue.

Weight: 6 to 7 pounds

Urban Uses: Leghorns are known for their egg-laying abilities and can provide four eggs a week.
