What started as an art project for a group of students at the University of Maribor in Slovenia has turned into an innovate solution to not only reducing how much plastic is used, but also in creating unique and decorative gardens for our homes.
PrintGREEN is a 3-D printer that of using lots of plastic the way traditional 3-D printers do, it uses a mixture of clay soil, seeds (small enough to fit in the printer) and water.
The mixture is placed in the printer and your design choice is “printed” on black felt-covered Styrodur that is bolstered with a sponge, the PrintGREEN website states. You can make any design you wish, from words and phrases to pictures and abstracts, as well as bowls. The possibilities are endless.
