Battenfeld’s Christmas Tree Farm in Red Hook, N.Y., has been around since 1956, upholding this tradition for families and individuals who wish to experience “an old-fashioned day in the country to choose and cut their own Christmas tree.” People can choose from Douglas fir (my personal favorite when it comes to Christmas trees), balsam fir, white pine, concolor fir, blue spruce and Fraser fir. All trees cost $65.

The farm also offers family events (such as opportunities with Santa and horse-drawn wagon rides), wreaths, a gift shop and a bagpipe concert—plenty of things to make getting your Christmas tree a fun experience.
