Why You Should Freeze Your Produce

You can preserve a lot of your produce by keeping it in a freezer.

If you don’t want to can, pickle, or dry your fresh produce, the easiest way to preserve it is to toss it in the freezer. Anyone can do this quickly and successfully.

Why would I want to do this?

This is the quickest and easiest method of preserving an abundance of produce. Produce that is frozen soon after being harvested is second only to fresh in nutrient quality.

If you’ve grown your own vegetables and fruits, freezing them extends the time in which you can enjoy them, thus saving you the costs of buying produce.

Produce that is transferred from field to freezer rapidly and frozen as quickly as possible retains much of its nutrient content. Freezing is incredibly easy and economical, and it generates less waste than buying packaged frozen food does. Almost any fruit or vegetable can be frozen. There are different ways to prepare the produce before freezing and different ways to use the frozen produce once it is thawed.
