Grow oyster mushrooms inside your home—no log required.

If you’ve wanted to try growing mushrooms but are intimidated by the production process, oyster mushrooms are a great option for small-scale production. Oyster mushrooms can be extremely prolific with just a few materials and minimal time investment. Plus, you can grow them inside your house, in a basement or dark, cool room.

You will need:

  • clean cardboard box (any size)
  • oyster mushroom sawdust or grain spawn
  • clean straw
  • pillowcase
  • large stock pot
  • garbage bag

Watch the video below to learn how you can begin oyster mushroom production.

So I grew the mushrooms. I ate 80% of them. Will more grow if I leave a couple of mushrooms to drop spores ? Or do I have to buy more spawn ?

i do this all the time and I add paperback books that I drilled holes thru in three places and then soaked in a weak bleach solution and squeezed out as much water as I can. a box the size in the video will net me 10 pounds or more of oyster mushrooms
