I love to read. My bookshelves are overflowing and books have made their way to various places throughout my house. I have given and received too many books as gifts to count. The best book gifts, in my opinion, are the ones that really show you know the person well, such as a ballet book for the dancer in your life or Black Beauty for the horse enthusiast or these four garden-related books for the gardener who may already be getting lots of gardening supplies.

This list, which was originally compiled by The Seattle Times, includes books we think will make great gifts.

This book, written by Richard Hartlage and Sandy Fischer, features “contemporary American garden design,” showcasing 60 gardens nationwide. The book mixes images with written details, allowing the gardener in your life to draw inspiration for his or her own garden. The Authentic Garden: Naturalistic and Contemporary Landscape Design is available on Amazon for $31.82.

Gardener’s Yoga: 40 Yoga Poses to Help Your Garden Flow

Ah, another love of mine – yoga. It’s a relaxing activity, just like reading and gardening, so it’s no surprise author Veronica D’Orazio blended the two for her book. As the title states, there are 40 poses that are specifically for gardeners. “With the right sequence of yoga poses, a gardener’s body can bend with the wind and stretch to the sky to alleviate the aches that come from all that digging, pulling, and carrying.” The book is sold through Sasquatch Books for $12.71.

Sometimes all you need is to sit in your garden and watch and listen to the birds. This book by Gerrit Vyn gives gardeners the upper hand when it comes to the birds they’re watching and listening to by providing insight into various species as well as giving the reader more than 250 gorgeous photographs to look at. If the gardener in your life also loves gardens of the world, this is the book for them. Featuring 1,001 gardens from all over the world, this will likely be the book that makes the gardener a traveler too – there are a few on that list I’d highly recommend seeing in person and there are probably many that will make the reader’s list of must-see gardens. Barnes & Noble has 1001 Gardens You Must See Before You Die for $6.99.
