This portable trellis is perfect for urban gardeners with minimal space who want to try out a vertical garden. It can easily be moved to different locations around the garden—or to a new urban garden altogether.

Trellis materials:

  • hand saw or circular saw
  • screwdriver
  • staple gun
  • wire cutters
  • garden twine
  • 4 6-foot pieces of 2- by 2-inch lumber
  • 2 3- by 3-foot pieces of chicken wire
  • 8 2-inch wood screws
  • 2 1½-inch butt hinges, with screws
  • 4 tent stakes or 4 pieces of wood at least 1½ inches thick, shaved to a point on one end
